Who is Graeme?

Graeme Bryce B.A.(Hons), P.G.C.E., T.M.C.M, F.R.S.A. is here to support families of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

I know how confusing and stressful the SEND system can feel, especially when it comes to Assessments, Annual Reviews, Phase Transfers, LA decisions not to proceed and when things are not progressing at pace due to a lack of Local Authority capacity.

For 20 years I taught SEND pupils in schools, whilst holding middle management positions. Ten years ago I moved into working within local authority SEND teams, gaining a very comprehensive knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 legal framework. Working firstly as a frontline caseworker, then progressing through the ranks to the role of a SEND Service Manager. Some LAs I contracted myself to include Surrey, Suffolk, Lincolnshire, Richmond Upon Thames and Haringey.

In 2019-21 I was a SEND Statutory Operations school advisor at the Education Authority in Northern Ireland. Whilst there I gave training to headteachers and governors, drafted 'Annual Review Guidance for Schools' and produced guidance documents for various stakeholders on the new 'rights of a young person with SEND over compulsory school age'. (SEND Act 2016 (NI))

In each Local Authority role I’ve managed complex casework with legal implications, quality assured EHCPs, led various SEND teams, prepared for and attended tribunal, delivered training on what service level parents should expect, and have developed my knowledge of how LA decisions are made.

I have for many years worked independently to help families through some very frustrating and emotive experiences, that you may be facing now!

Qualifying as a family mediator in 2015, I use my training to bring people together, listening carefully to each case, and helping parties to find solutions that keep children and young people's needs at the centre.

Families often tell me that working with me feels like a weight has been lifted. With experience across all sides of the system, I offer both knowledge of the law and a practical understanding of how it works in practice. I provide clear, straightforward guidance, helping families navigate complex processes with confidence.

My role is to make sure your voice is heard, and that your child receives the support they need and deserve.
